Our Mission

The Lee's Summit Clinic Physicians and support staff have a shared mission of providing high quality and cost efficient health services to the people of Lee's Summit, Missouri and the surrounding communities of Greater Kansas City

Established in 1932

A passion to help others

Dr. Clint Miller and Dr. Lyle Knight initiated the beginnings of the Lee's Summit Clinic in 1932 with the desire to establish a health facility built upon the grounds of family values, enduring relationships, and hard work.  During World War II, Dr. Miller was called into military service and served overseas in Europe.  During his absence, Dr. Knight continued providing medical care to the residents of Lee's Summit.  When the war was over Dr. Miller returned to the practice to pursue his passion.  In the early years, the clinic was located in downtown Lee's Summit.  In 1963 the clinic moved into a new building, which at that time was thought to be "way out" on W 3rd Street.

Today, the clinic remains in that location with the same values guiding the operation of their day to day business - Family Values, Enduring Relationships and Hard Work.  With the tremendous growth of Lee's Summit, the clinic is now near the center of the city.  Until 1978, when a hospital was built in Lee's Sumit, the Lee's Summit Clinic provided daily medical care and emergency care in the area.  Since that time the hospital emergency room has provided emergency services.

Since the early '50's a number of physicians have been associated with the clinic:

Dr. William F. Bell, Dr. Monteford D. Durnell, Dr. C.J. Shockley, Dr. Ed Klein, Dr. Bruce Hahn and Dr. Herbert A. Dempsey whom no longer remain in practice.  There are currently two second generation physicians Dr. John Shockley and Dr. H.E. Dempsey.
